Kevin Taylor Smith, the new Director of Theatre at East Ridge High School Theatre Department, recently announced its 2019-2020 season of music, comedy and drama.
Kevin Taylor Smith took the role of director bringing lots of experience with him having worked at theatres across Central Florida and most recently, at both The Garden Theatre and The Orlando REP.
MAIN STAGE SEASON
The season debuts with Steel Magnolias (September 11th -14th) A play by Robert Harling-Steel Magnolias is the comedy-drama about the friendship of a group of Southern women in Louisiana. This beautiful story was given a movie adaptation starring Dolly Parton and Sally Field in 1989. Our Student cast of this now-classic show, will blow you away with their talent once it hits the stage in September. Directed by Vince Santos
Disney’s The Little Mermaid (November 6th-9th) This musical, featuring songs of the 1989 Disney classic, tells the story of Ariel and her longing to become part of a different exciting world. With Music by 8 time Academy Award Winner, Alan Menken and Lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is sure to be a “Splash” hit.
Season Break
Bright Star (February 5th-9th) This Musical, written by Edie Brickell and Steve Martin (yes THAT Steve Martin) tells the story of Alice Murphy and is set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina in 1947. This 2016 Tony Nominee for Best Musical is not one to miss!

The Santo’s Barn Theatre Festival (December 2-6 and March 9-12) The festival will highlight young actors from the Theatre honors classes and will feature students directing one-act plays as well as classic full-length shows.
