Clermont Historic Society

It is always difficult to say that last “Goodbye” to a dear friend.  When it is the third member of a group to pass in one year and when it is someone who fought gallantly to the end, it is even harder.  Once again, the Clermont Historical Society is saying “Farewell” to a loyal volunteer.  Barbara Post Edwards became involved about four years ago and hardly ever missed a Sunday welcoming visitors to Clermont’s Historic Village.  Even after her diagnoses in November of 2017 with stage four cancer, she continued her busy schedule.  It was only when treatments and hospital stays prevented her from being there, that she missed time at the Village.

The same was true in all the other aspects of her life.  Barbara loved walking along Lake Minneola, doing Zumba, going to the gym, working as a realtor, being active in the Democratic Party in Clermont, and challenging her brain at weekly Trivia sessions.  She even showed houses one time on her way home from a hospital stay and continued playing Trivia at the Attic Door in Winter Garden until her failing health made it necessary for her to move to Atlanta where family could care for her in her final days.

A Memorial Service will be held for Barbara on Saturday, October 5th, the 77th anniversary of her birth.  The exact time and location are yet to be determined.  The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Clermont Historical Society: 490 West Avenue, Clermont 34711 or the South Lake Democratic Club:  9848 Spring Lake Drive, Clermont 34711.
