Guru’s Restaurant in Clermont! Founded by owner and head chef, Uday Kadam was inspired to launch his business here as he felt Clermont was the very best community and location for a fine quality destination restaurant.
The Guru! Uday Kadam is proudly from a small village 300 miles south of Mumbai, India. His father was a teacher; Kadam’s first ‘Guru’. While Kadam was in college in Bombay, he worked at the famous Taj Mahal Hotel. He studied and worked under the talents of many respected gurus, who taught and encouraged him in what would become his life’s most desired profession. He soon thereafter started his professional career as a manager for Marriott Hotels in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt before coming to work in the United States in 1982. He has 30 years of experience in the professional restaurant business here in the Orlando area. Here, he was a food and beverage manager working at the Disney Polynesian. His wife Pamela has worked for 40 years at Disney as a Costume Manager. Kadam notes, the word Guru means ‘Master’ and ‘A Sharing Teacher’. Growing up, I was fortunate to work for and learn from the best of the best at Marriott and Disney!”
Celebrating 5 Successful Years In September! Started in September 2014, Kadam sincerely credits his tremendous loyal clients. While he strives to best serve the local community; they have also had many local and regional celebrities, athletes and politicians as regular guests. Uday notes, “Many of our long-term guests claim they tried Indian cuisine here for their very first time and loved it … so they keep coming back!” He also adds, “When our guests come here, we really always want them to feel good! Most first-time guests always thank us with compliments and tell us they will definitely be back!”
Specialty Indian Cuisine: Kadam wanted to start a simple and very authentic Indian restaurant. They proudly serve generous portions of the finest quality foods and ingredients available today. Everything is always fresh. Their unique appetizers, as well as their cooked chicken, beef, lamb, seafood, vegetable, and Biryani dishes, are always custom cooked to perfection and to your taste. Each moderately priced dish is created any way you want from mild or normal medium to hot and spicy. They offer an assortment of meats with many different entrees; 17 of which are vegetable delights and 8 of which many are created as vegan dishes. Their 6 Biryani specialties are tender meat and basmati rice combinations made from Hyderabadi. They offer numerous side orders like Sweet Mango Chutney, Raita and Pappdam. For dessert, they offer homemade mango and pistachio ice creams, Rice Pudding, Gulab Jamun and Ras Malai. cold beer and a variety of wines are available to enhance any meal. All 10 varieties of naan breads are cooked fresh in clay ovens. They even offer a special Children’s Menu with chicken fingers and Indian-style pizza. This is a great place to celebrate any birthday, anniversary or special event! They also offer take-out and delivery services.
Clermont, Orlando Area & National Honors: Guru’s Indian Restaurant has earned dozens of awards over the years from the Orlando Sentinel, The Tampa Tribune and many more inclusive of recently earning the 2018 South Lake Chamber of Commerce ‘Local Taste Award’ for being ‘The Best Indian Restaurant In Central Florida.” They have been invited to cater large events with up to 14,000 meals at Disney Resorts while also providing service for special events at Bella Collina and the Mission Inn.
