September is here, and fall is definitely not in the air. Humid and summerlike conditions still greeted the 131 participants, but it didn’t manage to stifle the energy at the Clermont waterfront parkrun. As always, the volunteers did a fantastic job helping the event run smoothly and offering encouragement to all the runners. This weekend, there was even some music thanks to Hector Clemente. Hector not only takes photos of all the runners, but he also helps with pre-and-post race tasks. Despite his hectic volunteer workload, he never ceases to have a smile on his face. Participants can find their photos on the Clermont waterfront parkrun flickr page. There were an impressive 35 first-timers, 12 personal bests, and representatives from 19 different clubs this week.

Luis Prestes won this weekend’s parkrun with a blazing time of 17:23. It was a tight race among the top three, as Adolfo Saucedo Flores followed only three seconds behind in 17:26. Rounding out the podium was Nicholas Atkinson in a speedy sub 18 time of 17:46.

Overseas visitor Rebecca Gray from the Hyde Park Harriers run a 21:59 to top the female podium on Saturday. Junior Brianna Romero had an impressive Clermont parkrun debut, coming in second behind Gray with a time of 22:39. Another junior, Nadia La Rosa, ran a 24:26 to complete the top three spots.

Congratulations to Helen Prestes on completing her 50th parkrun.
