Lake-Sumter State College and the LSSC Foundation dedicated the Ann Dupée Nursing Simulation Center on the South Lake campus, Monday, September 9.  The late Ann Dupee hated to miss any event and some who attended the dedication ceremony said they actually felt her presence.

Dr Sidor reminisces Clemont’s own Ann Dupee.

Though small in stature, Ann had a big heart and lots of determination.  “Ann Dupée was a positive force for the South Lake community that she loved so much,” said Dr. Stan Sidor, LSSC President at Monday’s ceremony. “It’s our honor to dedicate this simulation center for her today. We appreciate all the support she has given to this College, especially in growing this campus in Clermont.”

In addition to being used by nursing students, the Ann Dupée Nursing Simulation Center will also be used by students in the Health Sciences Collegiate Academy (HSCA). HSCA is a 4-year experience that offers students the experience to complete an A.A. degree at LSSC before graduating high school, and gaining valuable real-world experience with practitioners in Orlando Health South Lake Hospital.

HSCA is offered in collaboration with Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Lake County Schools, UCF, and Montverde Academy.

“We are extremely appreciative of this gift from Ann and her family,” said Dr. Laura Byrd, VP of Institutional Advancement and Executive Director, LSSC Foundation. “This gift allowed for the purchase of a high-fidelity manikin for use in the simulation center. These manikins allow for our students to practice in realistic patient settings using current healthcare technology.”
