Get ready to lace up your sneakers for another worthy cause in Clermont.
The Clermont Police Department will host Lake County’s annual Break the Silence Stop the Violence 5K to benefit Haven of Lake and Sumter Counties. The event will take place from 6 pm to 8 pm October 5 at Victory Pointe, 938 Victory Way.
Haven is an organization that provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and sexual violence. Its primary objective is to provide these victims with alternatives to abuse or life-threatening situations and to empower them to establish a violence-free life. All proceeds from this event will be used to support this worthy organization.
“The Clermont Police Department encourages everyone to come out and show their support for such a worthy cause,” Chief Charles Broadway said. “We are very enthusiastic about our partnership with Haven, and we fully support their efforts in helping victims of these unfortunate crimes.”
You can register to participate in the run at www.RunSignup.com/Race/FL/Clermont/SunsetFunRunwithChuck. Check-in for walkers at the event will start at 6 p.m. sharp on the day of the event. Participants will receive a finisher medal and T-shirt, as well as complimentary food provided by Chick-fil-A of Clermont.
