Keep Lake Beautiful, A Keep America Beautiful Affiliate is seeking residents and volunteers to participate in the Lake County Countywide Cleanup on Saturday, October 5 from 9 am to noon. Volunteers are needed to help clean up along roadways and residents are encouraged to clean up their homes and yards and drop off bulk items for proper disposal. Trash grabbers, trash bags, gloves, safety vests, and water will be provided to volunteers.

Locations for the cleanup are listed below:

  • Minneola Athletic Complex, 1300 Fosgate Road (Education Avenue), Minneola
  • East Lake Community Park, Wallick Road, Sorrento
  • Northwest Lake Park, 200 Shiloh St., Fruitland Park
  • Wal-Mart, 550 U.S. Highway 27, Clermont (Four Corners)
  • Treadway Elementary School, 10619 Treadway School Road, Leesburg

A Tire Amnesty Day is being conducted as part of the cleanup event. Residents can dispose of up to 24 passenger tires for free from 8 am to 5 p.m. on October 5 at the Lake County Solid Waste Facility located at 13130 County Landfill Road in Tavares. Tires will also be accepted at three of the cleanup event sites 9 am to noon:

  • Eastlake Community Park
  • Wal-Mart Clermont (Four Corners)
  • Treadway Elementary School

The City of Leesburg is hosting a volunteer cleanup at the following locations:

  • City of Leesburg, Berry Park, Corner of Bradford Ave and Beecher St., Leesburg
  • City of Leesburg, Lake Robin Hood in Stock Subdivision, 1316 Braeberry Dr., Leesburg

The City of Groveland is hosting a volunteer cleanup along roadways and for bulk items at the following location:

  • City of Groveland, Ace Hardware, 1007 Highway 50, Groveland

The Lake County Water Authority will also be hosting a lake cleanup at the following location:

  • Hickory Point Park, 27341 SR 19, Tavares
