The Community Foundation of South Lake (CFSLC) announced that Kathy Smith has been appointed to lead the organization as its new Executive Director. Kathy previously served as the Director of Donor Development with the Community Foundation for the last 5 years.

During this time, Kathy has fostered and grown CFSLC’s assets. She also developed strong relationships with individuals and nonprofits in the South Lake community. Kath has been the driving force behind the creation of the Women’s Giving Alliance, a giving circle committed to encouraging strategic philanthropy and improving the lives of women and children in the South Lake community.

Lance Sewell, CFO of South Lake Hospital and CFS LC Board Chair says, “Kathy has been the face of the Community Foundation for some time and we are happy she is moving the organization forward with its strategic plan, connecting philanthropists and nonprofits to meet our community needs.”

Prior to her work with the Community Foundation, Kathy worked in the non-profit sector for 8 years. As part of the Foundation Academy team, Kathy helped successfully run a capital campaign that developed the south campus of the school. Kathy and her husband Rob live in Clermont and have two adult children, Rachel and Robert. Kathy Smith says “The South Lake community has become a part of my heart, and I feel extremely blessed to have been given the opportunity to lead the organization. We have a great team and I’m confident that together, we can make a difference in our community through philanthropy and engagement.”

The Community Foundation of South Lake looks forward to the leadership, direction, and commitment to relationships that Kathy will bring to the Executive Director position, says Sewell.
