Bill Downs, owner of Suncreek Brewery, has been brewing beer since 1997 when he launched his first home brewing experiment The original idea for a brewery was envisioned in 1999 just before he moved to Florida with his wife Sheila. Today, Suncreek Brewery has gone from an idea to a well-known brewery with his beers rated well above average.
Bill is busy these days preparing for a 2-day Octoberfest celebration this weekend in downtown Clermont but took time to let me know what to expect the weekend at Suncreek Brewery.
TABLET: Bill, I can’t wait for this weekend’s Suncreek Octoberfest. Will you describe some of the events?
Bill: Dust off that lederhosen! Suncreek Brewing Company, Michael’s Ali Pizza and Mac’d Out take over West Minneola Avenue to present Clermont Oktoberfest 2019. Our large stage will fill the street with contemporary and German music on October 5th and 6th. Bring the whole family along to enjoy German Dancers, German/American food, face painting, contests and more. Our limited collectible 1L glass steins will be for sale on-site starting at 11 am Saturday. First come, first prost! TABLET: Will there be a German Band, Alphorns, Yodeling, All Things German?
Bill: We are playing Contemporary and German music both days. “The King Guys Band” headlines on Sunday afternoon. We are having our first annual Stein Holding contest on Sunday (see Facebook event page for time) with the grand prize being admittance into our Founders Club – the ONLY way to get into this closed and exclusive club.
TABLET: Will there be German Fare?
Bill: Yes! Brats, sauerkraut, pretzels, etc. We’ll also host a variety of food trucks and other vendors onsite throughout the event.
