Our primary focus is on skin cancer! We personally work with each of our clients to catch skincare challenges before they become a problem. Most dermatologic concerns can be easily treated if detected early. I treat every patient as if they were a member of my family in order to give them the best services available.”

FLDSCC is a small, local family-focused organization and not part of a large conglomerate. Because of this, FLDSCC has invested in world-class equipment and their team goes through advanced training updates annually, becoming experts in diagnosing and treating skin cancers with the latest technological options.

With more than 9,500 people in the U.S. given a new skin cancer diagnosis every day, Florida Dermatology & Skin Cancer Centers takes every opportunity to further its mission and provide much-needed dermatology services in the Central Florida area and beyond. Jared Simmons received his Master of Science degree in nursing from Florida Southern College — graduating with a concentration in adult-gerontology primary care and he began his professional nursing career at Lakeland Regional Medical Center’s surgical and trauma intensive care units. Today, as an advanced practice nurse practitioner, he leads the team at FLDSCC’s Clermont location. He is a member of several professional associations, including the Polk County Advanced Practice Nurses Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the International Nursing Honor Society.

Dr. K. Wade Foster: Founder of FLDSCC, Dr. Foster earned his M.D. and Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Alabama Birmingham.  He completed both his internship and residency at UAB and his procedural dermatology fellowship in Mohs surgery at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Dr. Foster’s decision to specialize in dermatology was made while he was conducting doctoral research on squamous cell cancer. He adds, “I quickly became interested in all different types of dermatology. I was also able to study dermatopathology, surgery and general dermatology for all ages, all of which I proudly incorporate into my practice today.”

With extensive experience in Mohs surgery, Dr. Foster is able to remove and biopsy each layer of tissue as it is removed, thereby ensuring that no healthy tissue is excised. By doing so, he is able to achieve better cosmetic results. As Dr. Foster describes it, “All dermatologists get some exposure to Mohs surgery as residents. Fellowship training, though, gives far more exposure in all aspects of surgery.”

Dr. Foster started his practice in Winter Haven in 2008 and today remains the owner and medical director for all Florida Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center offices. His wife, Chrisjonna, serves as Chief Operating Officer, as well as surgical assistant. The Fosters have four children and enjoy being part of the community. They are active members of the South Lake Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis.
