Doris Bloodsworth, a longtime South Lake resident, historian, Pulitzer-nominated writer, and named Lake County Historian of the Year has been presenting a preview of the upcoming book, “Clermont: From Gem of the Hills to Choice of Champions” to civic organizations, businesses and social groups. The book is expected to hit the presses by December.

Bloodsworth and the Cooper Memorial Library Board have been working for several years to create a comprehensive history of the city, from the Ice Age through the first Native Americans, to the founders of modern-day Clermont and the years leading up to 2019. There are hundreds of rare photos, and the book includes stories and history that are published for the first time.
