Code 4 Cancer

Clermont public safety departments are partnering with several local organizations to help raise cancer awareness and funds at an upcoming event.

Code-4 Cancer will be held from 5 pm -9 p.m. November 5 at Gators Dockside, 1200 Oakley Seaver Drive. During this event, the Clermont Police Department and the Clermont Fire Department will partner with Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Lake Speech and Language Services, and Gator’s Dockside to increase awareness of cancer and to raise money for a local charity, the Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation. Code-4 is a first responder code which means “to cancel” an action. The department hopes that this event will help “cancel out” cancer.

During this event, Clermont Police officers and Clermont Firefighters will be on hand to accept donations, which will go directly to the charity. In addition, a portion of all proceeds will be donated by Gator’s Dockside.

Occurring at the beginning of November, this event will bring awareness not only to #Pinkoctober and breast cancer awareness, but it also will lead into #Movember and men’s health initiatives, such as prostate cancer awareness. The Clermont Police Department #Pinkoctober vehicle, as well as the Clermont Fire Department #Pinkoctober engine, will be present, and attendees will have the opportunity to interact and take pictures.

For information, contact Sgt. Malcolm Draper of the Clermont Police Department at 352-536-8412. Come out and meet your local first responders as we support this great cause!
