For the past 14 years, each student at Imagine South Lake Charter, kindergarten through fifth grades, selects and reads a book appropriate for his/her grade-level. Afterward, each student completes a book report. To enhance the experience, students prepare their costumes based on a character from the books they read and await the anticipated character parade around the campus.

The parade is not only fun for the students but the onlookers (parents and middle school students), as well. “It’s a great way to encourage reading”, says Nichole Meerleveld, Imagine South Lake Character Operations Coordinator.
