King Lion Clif Brown (far right) welcomed visiting Lions (L-R) Paul Holland of the Orange Blossom Lions Club Chuck Legare and John Hanna of the Lake-Sumter Lions Club to their November Club meeting at the St. Mathias Episcopal Church, Thursday, Nov. 14.  Also, Raul Rodrigues, retired from NYC Police Dept. was welcomed as an incoming new member.

A presentation was made by the visiting Lions where the offer was made to assist CLERMONT-MINNEOLA LIONS in starting a vision screening program for children in South Lake County.  The new technology offers simplicity, minimal risk in screening for various vision problems that often go undiscovered, particularly among preschoolers.  By having these visiting Lions assist, the Club would have access to the equipment until such time as the Club could raise enough money to acquire their own.

The camera costs in the neighborhood of $6,000 – $7,000. The Program is called LIONS KIDSIGHT USA and is further supported by FLORIDA KID FOUNDATION by the Lake-Sumter Lions Club.  The camera demonstration showed how it takes digital images that can reveal anomalies and are screened and sent to Ophthalmologists for further analysis and recommendations.  The cost to children, parents and participating preschools is entirely free. The Club needs a few more volunteers to join the Club for taking on such a truly worthwhile service.  For further information, mail Lion Nick Jones, njarkitect1@gmail.com.
