Winter Programs for the Kids

Children of all ages are invited to chill out at the library in January with a variety of cool programs tailor-made for some wintertime fun. Just because we live in Central Florida doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the blustery themes of winter.

Tuesday, January 7 from 4-5 pm

The entire family can warm up to cozy reading sessions at the library with our PAWS therapy dogs. PAWS Therapy Dogs provide compassionate canine community service work by visiting libraries, schools, senior centers and nursing homes. Children, teens and adults can hang out, pet and read a book with these trained therapy pups.

Thursday, January 9 from 4:00 -5:00 pm 

School-age children and little ones will have fun making snowflake crafts and creating Winter Wonderland art.

Friday, January 17 – 11:00 am

Story Time resumes featuring plenty of seasonal storytimes, including tales about snowmen, penguins and polar bears, oh my!

Wintertime Programs for Adults – Don’t let the kids have all the fun!

Thursday, January 9 at 10:00 am and Tuesday, January 28 at 2:00 pm

Explore the health benefits of adult coloring by attending the Minneola Library’s bi-monthly coloring club “Color Me Calm”, and enjoy socializing while you create. No sign-ups are necessary, participants are offered a wide variety of designs to color, and all materials are provided. Feel free to bring friends and your own art materials and join in the fun at the library.

Tuesdays, January 14 & 28 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Would you like to learn a new craft or work on that unfinished project with other neighborhood knitters? Adults and teens are invited to join us at the Minneola Library for an ongoing “Knitting Club”. Bring your own materials and creative ideas.

Are you turning 65 in the next twelve months? You will be eligible for benefits! Medicare can be confusing and complicated to navigate. Even if you are not retired, it is essential to educate yourself now in order to avoid any penalties in the future. Join BankersLife Associates at the Minneola Library for a free, informative Medicare presentation.

Is your New Year’s resolution to stop smoking? Quitting tobacco isn’t easy. Finding help should be. The Minneola Schoolhouse Library is partnering with Tobacco Free Florida to present a free class at the library. Free tools and services will be provided to help you get started.
