The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra will continue their new season on Thursday and Friday, January 9 and 10, 2020 with a special Shalom Concert performance to ring in the New Year. This concert will feature Jewish themes from Fiddler on The Roof, Shindler’s List, Exodus and many more Broadway musical favorites while featuring the conductor from Cleveland’s Pop Orchestra, Carl Topilow.

Carl Topilow will be the guest conductor. Topilow, is in his 23rd year as Founding Conductor of the Cleveland Pops Orchestra. He is Director of the Cleveland Institute of Music’s orchestral program, Music Director of the National Repertory Orchestra and the Firelands Symphony Orchestra in Sandusky, Ohio. He has served as a guest conductor for more than 120 orchestras in 37 states and 12 foreign countries. Topilow continues to perform as clarinetist with orchestras as well as with piano in informal recitals.

Nishaa Johnson will be the Soprano soloist for the FLSO Pop Concert with Carl Topilow. Johnson holds both a Bachelor of Music Degree in Voice Performance Degree from the University of South Florida. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts Degree with an emphasis in Music from the University of Central Florida. She teaches at UCF as well as private voice and piano lessons. She is also an adjunct voice instructor at the Montverde Academy Conservatory of Music.

Central Florida Concert Locations: The Thursday performances for this season start at 7:30 PM at the Epiphany Celebration Anglican Church auditorium located at 1724 South Bay Street, Route 19 North, Eustis FL 32757. Upcoming Season 15 Performances: The upcoming special February 13 & 14 Valentine Concerts will showcase Vienna Woods, Springtime & Strauss, Tales of the Vienna Woods, and The Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz. On March 19 & 20, they will offer a wonderful Fire & Ice Concert with Southern music — Fire Dance, Capriccio Espagnole, O Mo Babbino Caro, Carmen and Northern Tschaikowsky Piano Concerto 1 with piano soloist Sten Heinoia. Spring will commence on April 23 & 24 with a Cherry Blossoms Concert featuring A Japanese Teahouse, Madame Butterfly, Lower Song and many more Oriental favorites with guest conductor Shungo Moriyama visiting us from Osaka, Japan.
