The Clermont Historical Society invites you to ring in the New Year at Clermont’s own Historic Village and Museum. Located at 490 West Ave. on the shores of beautiful Lake Minneola & not far from the historic downtown shopping district, the Village is a unique partnership between the city of Clermont and the Historical Society. Together we work to provide the citizens of South Lake County and beyond with the opportunity to experience a little of what life was like in Clermont over 100 years ago.
The Village is open every Friday afternoon from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm and every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. All the buildings are open to the public and volunteers are on hand to provide guided tours. Or, you can simply walk through to buildings at your own pace listening to recorded information. There is even a Scavenger Hunt for our younger visitors. Upon completion, our young visitors get to select their own prize from a “Treasure Chest” made by volunteer, Pete Cox. Admission to the Village is always free however, a donation of $3.00 per person is requested.
To find out more about the Historic Village and/or the Historical Society, visit our Facebook page or come to one of our monthly meetings. The meetings are held on the second Monday of each month in the Train Depot at the Historic Village. The board meeting (open to the public) starts at 6:00 pm and is followed at 7:00 pm by a presentation on a topic of historical interest.
The next meeting is on January 13th. If you are really interested in history in general or of this area in particular, why not consider joining the Clermont Historical Society? Membership is only $25.00 for an individual and $35.00 for a couple.
