Clermont Police are investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian that occurred in the area of SR 50 and Sand Hill View Boulevard, Clermont, FL.

At approximately 11:45 pm, on January 5, 2020, Clermont Police Patrol and Traffic Enforcement Units responded to the area of westbound SR 50 and Sand Hill View Boulevard for a report that a vehicle (Blue Honda 4 door) had struck a pedestrian pushing an empty wheelchair while walking in the roadway. A short time later, a second vehicle (White Subaru SUV) struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian, later identified as John King II was pronounced deceased on the scene from injuries sustained by the impacts.

Clermont Police Traffic Investigators conducted an investigation immediately. Several witnesses were interviewed along with the drivers of both vehicles and they are cooperating with the investigation. An initial investigation has revealed that Mr. King was not utilizing a crosswalk.  Neither driver showed signs of impairment and speed did not appear to be a factor.  There were no passengers involved and no injuries were reported to either driver. No charges are expected to be filed against the drivers at this time.
