Clermont-Minneola Lions were the hosts for the District 35-O quarterly meeting held at the FUMC Wesley Center on Saturday, January 18.  Club President Cliff Brown welcomed District Governor, Greg Evans and his cabinet of officers and leaders along with approximately 40 clubs with members in attendance.
Over $6,000 was awarded to various Lion’s charities supported by the District. Mid Florida Braille Association made a presentation of current projects along with a presentation of the District retina screening program by Past Dist. Governor, Norma Calahan.  Clermont-Minneola Club purchased a braille calendar for their recording secretary, totally blind Betty Radogna, a retired receptionist with many years of service at South Lake Memorial Hospital.
Other programs supported by the District include Leader Dogs, Right To Sight,
(eyeglasses collection program), Southeastern Guide Dogs, Florida Foundation for the Blind, Conklin Center (the only program in the country that works with the blind that have an additional handicap – located in Daytona), special LCI calls for help in disasters, particularly hurricanes, Diabetes and Retina screening programs to name a few of the charities Lions support.
Awards were handed out. First United Methodist, Wesley Center chef and staff were lauded for the lunch and the superb service rendered.
Clermont-Minneola Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 6:30 pm at the St Matthias Episcopal Church downtown Clermont.
