A new, pay-by-phone service is being offered by the Lake County Clerk’s Office to allow persons to pay most traffic and criminal fees and fines by credit card over the phone.

Credit card payment types accepted are Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. The only debit cards which will be accepted are those with the Visa or MasterCard logo. The name on the credit or debit card must match the name on the court case.

“We are always looking for ways to offer more convenient services to our customers,” said Gary J. Cooney, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller. “This will allow them to make payments without having to visit the courthouse.”

To make a payment by phone, call (352) 742-3846 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A 3.5% nonrefundable fee will be charged by the financial service provider for each credit card transaction.
