On Friday, May 22, at 11 am, a ceremony was held at the Clermont Police Department to honor the memory of fallen Clermont Officer Conrad Buckley who recently past from complications from the COVID-19 virus.

The Kiwanis Club of South Lake wanted to do something to honor the memory of the fallen officer. A scholarship program will be sponsored in his memory.

Leaving a Legacy – Each year the Officer Conrad Buckley Police Academy Scholarship will be sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of South Lake and the recipient will be chosen by the Clermont Police department. The recipient will attend the Lake Technical College, Florida Law Enforcement Academy where they will receive 770 hours of accredited police training.

This year’s first scholarship recipient is Maycee Lowe, an 18-year-old East Ridge High School senior.

Fundraiser –  This Sunday, May 24, a fundraiser will be held to raise money for the Officer Conrad Buckley Police Academy Scholarship Fund.  There will be live music by Tim Hargis on the Dock at Lake Minneola, just North of the Clermont Boat ramp, from 1 pm – 5 pm. Enjoy the sunshine and help raise money. Contributions will be accepted.
