The Kiwanis Club of South Lake wanted to do something for fallen Clermont Police officer Conrad Buckley who recently died from the COVID-19 virus.

The decision was made to sponsor a scholarship program to honor his memory.

Leaving a Legacy – Each year the Officer Conrad Buckley Police Academy Scholarship will be sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of South Lake and the recipient will be chosen by the Clermont Police department. The recipient will attend the Lake Technical College, Florida Law Enforcement Academy where they will receive 770 hours of accredited police training.

This year’s first scholarship recipient is Maycee Lowe, an 18-year-old East Ridge High School senior.

Fundraiser –  On Sunday, May 24, a fundraiser was held to raise money for the Officer Conrad Buckley Police Academy Scholarship Fund.  Local DJ and entertainer Tim Hargis played on the Dock at Lake Minneola and boats gathered to enjoy the music and support the scholarship fund. If you didn’t attend, you can still contribute to his legacy. For more information or to donate to the scholarship fund, visit Kcosl.org/buckley
