The William A Suggs Memorial VFW Post 5277 Quartermaster received a request to present the American flag for Flag Day at the “Lakes of Clermont” Health and Rehabilitation Center, an assisted living facility, located at 1775 Hooks Street, Clermont.

Attending the ceremony were members of the Clermont Police Department, Vitas representatives and Congressmen Ross Spano’s representative.

The VFW led the processional walk with the VFW flag to where the veterans in the facility were seated. An invocation proceeded the song “America the Beautiful”. A VFW post member read the VFW speech for Flag Day then the group listened to “Old Glory” narrated by Mack Ellis.

The Clermont Police Sergeant said a few words then the hosting facility had closing remarks with certificates handed out to the veterans and some of the Clermont Police officers in recognition of their service.

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is a congressionally chartered veterans organization whose mission is to “honor the dead by helping the living”. The William A Suggs Memorial VFW Post 5277 is located 855 W. Desoto St., Clermont.
