Project Scholars officials announced today that EventFest, a company noted for producing some of the state’s largest and most popular events, will manage the March 5-7, 2021, Pig on the Pond Community Festival. EventFest produces the Tampa Pig Jig, which has raised millions for charity, and is noted for producing the Gasparilla Festival and the Outback Bowl Parade, among other events.
“We had more than 100 applicants for the event manager position,” said Paul Rountree, president of the Project Scholars Board of Directors. “We chose EventFest because of its outstanding track record and their enthusiasm for Pig on the Pond Festival and the Waterfront Park venue in Clermont where we hold the event.”
Pig on the Pond Community Festival, over 20 years old and the Clermont area’s largest event, has become one of the most popular festivals in Central Florida. The three-day event includes barbecue and other food vendors, a carnival, fireworks, a kids’ zone and lots of live entertainment. The profits fund four-year scholarships for four south Lake County students each year.
The festival is the signature event for Project Scholars, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance educational opportunities for graduating high-school seniors who live in south Lake County. Project Scholars also co-sponsors a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast for educators in South Lake prior to the beginning of each school year.
