There is no better way to spend the day than with your dog.  On National Dog Day, and every day, be sure to do something special with your best, most loyal friend, your pet.

Dogs may have differences: ages, personalities, shapes, sizes, breeds, colors; but each share, at least, three important characteristics: they give us great joy, unconditional love, and a willingness to learn and please.

Dogs aren’t just wonderful pets but are protectors and workers. Some have been trained to guard the home, the community, and livestock. They work in health care, law enforcement, fire departments, and security. They are great caregivers and loyal companions.

A dog doesn’t have to be a pure breed to be a champion.

On National Dog Day, give a dog the special recognition and attention they deserve.  If you don’t have a furry friend, consider adopting, fostering, or volunteering at an Animal Shelter. If that isn’t possible, make a donation to a shelter.

Meet NOAH

Hi Friends, My name is NOAH and I am an 11-month-old, male German Shepherd Blend.  I am a SUPER sweet boy looking for my furever home. Everybody LOVES me and I have a great personality! I also LOVE to lay in kiddie pools when it’s hot out!  I do have some SPECIAL NEEDS that if you can help me with, I will be your best pal… I have been evaluated by an orthopedic specialist and it is suspected that my altered gait is due to bilateral iliopsoas contracture (tight hip joints), not hip dysplasia. I will need an owner willing to continue pursuing with their veterinarian a remedy to my condition that, at this time, includes, low activity, gentle exercises, and pain/anti-inflammatory medication and may in the future include additional treatments including water therapy or surgery if not improved.  I really do deserve a loving home just like all of my other doggie friends that I have met and have found their forever family.  I know my family is out there…is that you??  If you think I would be a good fit for your family, please email us at adoptions@theanimalleague.org or complete an adoption application at https://theanimalleague.org/adoption-application/.

All pets at the Animal League are up to date on vaccines and treatments, spayed or neutered, and come with a registered microchip. For additional information, email  adoptions@theanimalleague.org OR Visit their website, www.theanimalleague.org, to learn more.

There are Cat and Dog People. If you can’t adopt a dog, consider a cat. Unlike a dog, who wants to play and stay with you all day, a cat is independent but still will show their love when they so choose to do so.  I have 4 cats and they are all very independent and I love them dearly,  My husband would gladly let you have one of my cats but that’s not happening.

Here are a few purrry friends looking for a home and attention.

Visit the Cat Cafe and fall in love with an adorable purring furball.
