It has been 19 years since a series of 4 coordinated terrorist attacks killed a reported 2,996 men and women including 19 terrorist hijackers aboard four planes. The NYC fire department lost 343 firefighters on 9/11 and our front-line heroes are still battling illnesses that stem from contaminated air at the twin tower site.
The City of Clermont held a pre-recorded video ceremony at 10 a.m. The virtual format allowed viewers to watch the solemn 19th anniversary event from the safety of their homes during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The program featured speeches by Clermont Mayor Gail Ash, Clermont Fire Chief David Ezell and Clermont Police Chief Charles Broadway, who was a first-responder on Sept. 11 at Ground Zero.
Clermont Police Department Chaplain Michael Saxe gave the invocation, Clermont Fire and Police department honor guards presented the colors and Rob Nichols performed The Star-Spangled Banner.
The South Lake County Florida Marine Corps League fired a rifle salute and The Pipes and Drums of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office played a musical tribute.
