The Kiwanis tent in the South Lake Plaze in Clermont by Papa's diner
On a recent rainy Sunday morning, the Kiwanis Club of South Lake County teamed up with Papa’s Diner to host a fundraiser for the Officer Conrad Buckley scholarship fund.  Clermont Police Officer Buckley tragically died earlier this year from the COVID-19 Virus.
Maycee Lowe is the first scholarship recipient

Because of the close relationship with the Clermont Police Department, the club created the legacy program to honor this front line hero with an annual scholarship for new police officer candidates entering the Lake County Tech College Program for law enforcement. The first Buckley scholarship recipient selected this year was Maycee Lowe.

A new police officer will be selected every year for the next ten years as a Buckley scholar cop.  Clermont Police Chief Charles Broadway is grateful of the commitment made by the Kiwanis Club of South Lake in support of the CPD recruiting and training efforts.
The car show raised over $2,600, with supporters selling $20 prize drawing tickets, which was supplemented by a $500 donation from the participating American Legion Battalion.
