The Clermont Historical Society invites you to join its carolers at Clermont’s Historic Village. These happy singers love to have their pictures taken and invite you to join them for a photo and for a song.  They might even have the words to an old favorite Christmas Carol (and a little history about the carol) handy so you can join them in a sing-along.  While at the Village you should also take some time to look at the beautiful Christmas Village display in the bay window of the train depot.  The display is thanks to the efforts of Mr. Tommy Candido display coordinator at the President’s Hall of Fame.

The Clermont Village is located at 490 West Avenue overlooking Lake Minneola and Victory Pointe which makes it perfect for a combination visit to see the beautiful trees on display at the Pointe and visit the Village.  If you come any Saturday or Sunday between 1:00 and 4:00 PM you can tour the buildings at the Village as well.  Admission to the Village is always free, however, a donation of $5.00 per person over 12 is requested. There are lots of interesting antiques on display in every Village building, tour guides are on hand to answer questions, and there are fun souvenirs and chances on Christmas decorations and baskets on sale.  If you come after dark to see the lighted trees, you can also walk through the Historic Village, see the lights there and watch the Christmas Village display come to life with children sledding, ice skaters and much more!

If you are interested in the history of Clermont or in history in general, why not consider joining the Clermont Historical Society?  Membership is just $25.00 per person or $35.00 for a couple annually.  At this time only board members are attending the society’s monthly meetings which are held on the second Monday of each month but members and guests are invited to join via Zoom.  You can also see lots of pictures and information about the Village on our Facebook page.  A new website will be launching soon.  For questions or further information please call 352-242-7734.  We hope to see you all now that the Village is reopened.  Stay hopeful and safe!
