The Plant for the month of January 2021 was presented to librarian Carey Storin at the Cooper Memorial Library by Elaine Hogan, a member of the Clermont
Garden Club.
The TILLANDSIA XEROGRAPHICA (Air Plant) is a species of bromeliad that is native to southern Mexico.  This can be a house plant and can be displayed in many different ways, like using it in a terrarium, or attaching it to driftwood, etc. For regular care, they will thrive with a misting a few times a week. However, about once a month you’ll want to give the plant a thorough drink, by soaking in lukewarm water for about two minutes. After submerging, be sure to gently shake the plant dry so that water does not sit pooled on leaves. It’s perfect in moderate light and can be moved around.
The Clermont Garden Club shares plants on a monthly basis with the library in order to foster community awareness and to connect the public to our programs, civic activities, and community outreach.
