January 28: Lake County 7-day Update on COVID-19

Approximately 1.5 million Floridians have received at least one dose of the vaccine to date but demand still outnumbers supply.  Those who received the first dose must get that second dose to be protected against getting the virus. Everyone should get vaccinated even if they have already had the Coronavirus.

Mutations of the virus have been found in Florida. These variants appear to be more contagious so everyone needs to continue wearing a facemask even if they have been vaccinated.

The total COVID cases in Florida rose to nearly 1.7 million since mid-March and an increase of 86,583 in the past 7 days. The number of hospitalized total 71,535, an increase of 2,603 cases this past 7 days.  Deaths rose to 26,035 a loss of 1,457 Floridians in the past 7 days.

In Lake County21,343 residents tested positive since March, an increase of 1,446 in the past 7 days.  The total hospitalized in Lake, 1,134 an increase of 37.  A total of 388 deaths were recorded, 10 in the past 7 days.

In South Lake –  COVID Cases In South Lake hit 8,307 since March. A rise of 569 cases in the past 7 days.
