Seven Day Update on the COVID-19 Virus

Good AND Bad News! The number of positive cases of COVID-19 virus is trending down, however, new variants of the virus are showing up all over the nation.  The best way to stop the spread of the virus and control mutated strains that appear to be more contagious is to get vaccinated as soon as possible. In the meantime, make a positive impact in your community by wearing a mask, social distance, wash hands often and avoid large crowds.

Across the Nation, nearly 34 million people have received the COVID-19 vaccine (6.4M fully vaccinated). More vaccine is on the way and coming soon, those with serious health issues, such as undergoing treatment for cancer and cystic fibrous, and under the age of 65 will be able to receive the vaccine.

Approximately 1.8 million Floridians have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine to date but demand still outnumbers supply.  Presently, 1.7 percent of Floridians are fully vaccinated. Those who received the first dose must get that second dose to be protected against getting the virus. Everyone should get vaccinated even if they have already had the Coronavirus. After receiving the vaccine, COVID restrictions should still be followed.

First-dose vaccinations are being administered at Lake Square Mall. Second doses are being given at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6803 Old Hwy. 441 South in Mount Dora and on a first-come-first-served basis at the Amazon Distribution Site, 7453 Republic Drive in Groveland.  *Bring proof of Florida residency.
