Sing

BL!NG Was Bitten By The Love Bug! Fortunately, that meant more than 35 folks in various sites around Clermont were entertained briefly by BL!NG’s talented singers in this newly formed acapella ensemble. Unfortunately, BL!NG was unable to reach out to more during this six-hour, rambling performance session in inclement weather.

Fortunately, although we did some singing in the rain, we had no lightning, which would have quickly curtailed our soggy Valentine’s Day efforts. Unfortunately, the 10-member women’s acapella group has yet to learn “Singing in the Rain!”

Fortunately, under the masterful direction of its esteemed and ever-energetic, multi-talented director Ludmila Hemmings, we will likely add it to the repertoire… It’s
Florida! Unfortunately, some folks BL!NG visited, had illnesses that as a result of the coronavirus, have kept them homebound for nearly a year.

Fortunately, a positive lead in One Voice chorus, after it was subdued indefinitely by the pandemic, determinately formed, named, and built BL!NG into a 10-member
ensemble, intent on bringing some hope and joy into the lives of some, who like her, are in the recovering stages of cancer. Unfortunately, it is hard to sing when wearing traditional
masks.

Fortunately, two creative baritones in the group, designed. and distributed masks appropriate for singers. Unfortunately, one grateful couple who had hors d’oeuvres. and wine for us on their gorgeous lanai, seemed disappointed as BL!NG moved on quickly, in an effort to get to all 15 prearranged sites.

Fortunately, a few singers shared their snacks with others in the cars, so no one passed out from hunger or thirst. Unfortunately, many of BL!NG’s family members started to text and call for ETAs for dinner before we finished our rounds.

Fortunately, they didn’t starve or thirst to death either. Unfortunately, as we sang tunes like Let Me Call You Sweetheart and I Love You Truly, some audience members teared up.

Fortunately, they were tears of joy (and we had umbrellas as a result of a sweet couple in Kings Ridge, who graciously loaned us their huge bumbershoots for our musical tour!) Unfortunately, BL!NG doesn’t serenade folks in various South Lake County communities every weekend.

But FORTUNATELY, BL!NG does have plans to do something similar around Mothers’ and Independence days this year.
