As other cities across Florida rapidly sprawl, Groveland has remained focused on strategically planning a thriving city with natural charm.
Groveland City Manager Mike Hein proudly presented the past, present, and future of the City of Groveland, at the March South Lake Chamber of Commerce virtual breakfast.
Moves, News, And Innovative Planning
The City of Groveland is proving that it’s possible to build a sense of community with innovative ideas while being one of the most rapidly growing cities in Florida. Operation Reach Out, Groveland General Store (Lake Catherine Blueberries), Groveland Youth projects, Fairs, Food Trucks and Farmer’s Markets are only a few of the projects uniting the Groveland community.
Groveland is a City with Natural Charm and the forward-thinking City Manager and City Council play an important role in protecting and growing upon its natural resource. Groveland is one of the first cities in Florida to implement the Dark Sky initiative (see additional information below). The community will be able to look up and enjoy a breathtaking view of the evening sky. Tree Preservation (Cherry Lake Tree Farm) and Parks and Trails are a few additional initiatives to look forward to.
New community-friendly businesses including Kroger and Amazon are bringing jobs to the area complementing Groveland’s strategically planned towns, villages and hamlets. The South Lake Regional Park will bring sports events and tournaments to the Groveland area.
Most importantly, the crucial realignment of State Road 50 will bring the city’s Master Plan into focus.
Next year, the City of Groveland will celebrate its 100-year Founders Day celebration, where it plans to unveil the city’s strategic plan for the next 100 years.
Stay tuned!
