The Clermont Legends Golf Club will finally be re-opening soon after three long years. The Legends Pro Shop and the driving range will open in April. The revitalized Legends Golf Course and Pro Shop will be fully open to the public with all 18 holes by early June. Legends is located on Highway 27 in Clermont, just north of Hartwood Marsh Road across from Kings Ridge. Legends Golf Couse is known for its beautiful rolling hills and scenic views. Their goal is to once again become known as Clermont’s finest golf destination.

Open To The Public: Legends Golf Club was designed by Lloyd Clifton and it was ranked 18th in the State of Florida at one time. The Legends Homeowner’s Association has purchased the golf course and restaurant with the intent of returning this facility as it once was. Down to Earth Golf has been hired to restore, maintain, manage and maximize the course in championship condition. While addressing all of the water and maintenance issues, work on revitalizing this golf course has been robust.

Dennis Doherty, Nick Dunleavy and Jeff Warren

While working closely with Jay Buccellato, the Legends Golf Club Superintendent; Nick Dunleavy, the Down To Earth Golf Division Manager, Jeff Warren; a Legends Golf Club Committee Member, 38 other Golf Committee Members and the Legends Homeowners Association Board, they worked closely with the City of Clermont to re-purchase the Legends Golf Course and Country Club from the previous owners. Due to improper management and maintenance by the original owners, the Legends Golf Course, unfortunately, closed about 3 years ago.

Limited New Inaugural Membership Opportunities: There are numerous options now available for residents and local area golf enthusiasts. They are now offering a limited amount of heavily discounted inaugural memberships sold before early April, to the first 125 golfers. These 20% discounted inaugural pre-opening memberships will include unlimited green fees with a cart included unlimited use of the driving range and putting green, ability to reserve tee times 10 days in advance, discounts for guest fees and discounts at the Pro Shop. A lifetime 20% discount is available for those first 125 golfers who register early for their membership.

More Membership Options: Family Memberships include two primary adults and qualified dependents under the age of 24 from the same residence. Business and Corporate Memberships are now available. Business Memberships include four single membership passes and 25 guest passes. Eighteen Businesses will be honored with flags and signs on one of the eighteen holes. They will automatically be recognized as charitable event sponsors. Seasonal Memberships are also now available for six-month periods.

Calendar Of Events: The Legends Golf Club will have a very full calendar of events with 12 charity golf tournaments, a series of fun monthly events and one limited member event each year. They plan to initiate an annual City of Clermont Golf Championship Tournament with various divisions for senior men, women, men and junior golfers.

Dennis Doherty adds, “Our focus is to establish a strong membership not only with community residents but to also include all local area golfers looking for an affordable way of enjoying a Country Club experience. During this current time before our golf course re-opens, we are offering limited Inaugural Membership opportunities. Our special 20% discounted memberships will be all-inclusive. These initial exclusive memberships will have unique transferrable and guarantee clauses. We are designing a calendar of tournaments and events which will be available to members and appeal to all types of golfers.”

They want the Legends Golf Club to again be a valuable community asset providing city championship tournaments for all categories of men, women junior and senior golfers. They plan to host at least 12 charitable tournaments per year focused on benefiting our local communities. They are looking to develop a strong junior golf program reaching all ages and experience levels while supporting our local after-school activity programs.

Great Golfing Extras:  This new course will offer TifEagle Greens which have been installed with Bermuda grass like they use on other championship courses like Bay Hill. They will now focus on more efficient pace control, including better tee time management and utilizing advances in golf cart technology. With an innovative special new iPhone app, you will be able to measure the distances on each fairway. They are now in the process of finalizing a new Golf Pro who will be available for personalized golf lessons and to help supervise many of the activities.
