Who was Officer Conrad Buckley:

Conrad Buckley, 52, was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a Clermont Police Officer who loved his job. He served as an officer for Clermont for two years before his death. He previously served as an officer with the Northeastern University Police Department in Boston.  He was a huge Northeastern University Huskies, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox fan. He was always full of energy, life, and laughter. Clermont Police Officer Buckley passed from complications of the COVID-19 virus in 2020.

Leaving a Legacy – Each year the Officer Conrad Buckley Police Academy Scholarship will be sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of South Lake and the recipient will be chosen by the Clermont Police department. The recipient will attend the Lake Technical College, Florida Law Enforcement Academy where they will receive 770 hours of accredited police training.

For ten years, the Kiwanis Club of South Lake will pay the tuition of a candidate to attend the program at Lake Tech College.

A plaque is displayed at the Clermont Police Department with 10 brass plates that will eventually have the names of the recipients in the ten-year program.

The first recipient of the Buckley scholarship was Maycee Lowe. She was awarded $3,400 to complete the program.  She is already in uniform.
