Tomoka Chapter held its April meeting at the American Legion building on West DeSoto Street. Martha Nolte conducted the meeting in the absence of Regent Beverly Oyler.

Guest speaker for the event was Kathryn Deen, Director of Communications for the City of Clermont. Ms.Deen reported on the city’s Downtown-Waterfront Master Plan which has been in progress for awhile. The major upgrades will be to brick portions of Montrose, Minneola, Osceola Streets and 8th Street. Sites are being evaluated for a parking garage downtown. New businesses in Clermont are the Montrose St. Market, Downtown Exchange, The Southern on 8th, Pepe’s Mexican restaurant, Sunshine Book Co.,  There is so much happening in Clermont and the surrounding areas. What a difference in Clermont in the last few years.
