The Lake County Education Association (LCEA) will present “Standout and Cookout: The Tour” taking place on the first three Saturdays in May at locations across Lake County. These events are for Lake County teachers in celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week featuring opportunities for educators and their supporters to gather in honor of the incredible work educators have accomplished to support students, colleagues, and the community this year.
“Educators have been true heroes to our students,” said LCEA Vice President Kathy Smith. “We have spent extra time ensuring our students have their educational needs met and learning new ways of teaching to ensure the continuity of the curriculum. We need to celebrate our educators who have gone above and beyond this year to support their students and colleagues.”
Event attendees are encouraged to bring signs to celebrate the work educators have done. They can expect food and teacher appreciation giveaways for those educators who attend.
“These events are to remind teachers of the power of collaboration and the collective strength we can find in affirming each other,” said Tamara Russel, National Board Certified Teacher and educator at Groveland Elementary School. “No one knows about teaching – no one knows what we have done to meet the needs of our students and community this year like teachers.”
Events will be held on the following dates and locations:
