Leonard H. Baird, Jr. (“Lenny”) passed away on May 16, 2021. Lenny was born August 3, 1946, in Ohio to Lucy and Leonard Baird, Sr. but spent most of his life in Florida.
Lenny received his undergraduate degree and his law degree from the University of Florida and was an avid Gator fan- Go Gators! He had an illustrious and well-respected legal career in Lake County spanning many decades.
He was City Attorney for many years and worked as an Assistant State Attorney in the child support enforcement division. He opened his own practice in 1980 which thrived with the help of his long-time assistant, Rachel Eller. Mr. Baird was a true lawyer-gentleman in every sense of the word.
Despite his many professional accomplishments, Lenny’s greatest pride came from his family. Lenny is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Suzanne Baird (Modica), their son Leonard Baird, III (“Little Lenny”) and his wife Kali, his grandson, Ganga Baird, and his sister, Linda Weber (Rick). In addition to his immediate family, Uncle Lenny is survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended Modica family members, who will certainly miss his BBQ chicken and the lively card games at the house on Lakeshore.
