At the Clermont City Council Meeting on June 8, Police Chief Charles Broadway announced Renee Lowe as CPD Citizen of the Year.
Chief Broadway described Renee as essential in bringing not just individuals, but local organizations in Clermont and South Lake County, together.
She co-founded and engaged several volunteers in a holiday program called “Christmas Around South Lake” resulting in over 2,000 children receiving at least $50 worth of gifts this past holiday season.
Because of her selfless efforts and commitment to being a servant leader, several of our less fortunate children and families right here in Clermont received wonderful Christmas gifts and plans are already in place for an encore performance this upcoming Christmas of 2021.
She also helped to establish the “We are Listening” Campaign that focused on suicide prevention and sharing kindness and resources with those in emotional crisis.
She has been instrumental in coming up with very strategic and fun events to raise funds for the Greater Clermont cancer foundation.
She is an active member of Kiwanis of South Lake and was instrumental in forming the Conrad Buckley Scholarship. Conrad Buckley, who is truly missed, was a Clermont Police Officer who passed last year due to Covid. “A great man and a Great Cop”. In order to honor him and to carry on his legacy of service above self and a commitment to public service, Renee Lowe and Kiwanis of South Lake organized a 5K, concerts on the lake and other events to raise funds for this scholarship to send deserving candidates to the police academy to become a Clermont Police Officer.
She recently received the Hometown Hero award for her contributions to the community which was presented by the United Way of Lake and Sumter County
Congratulations To Our Home Town Hero and CPD Citizen of The Year Renee Lowe.
