The Clermont Historical Society is happy to announce that not only are vendors who participated in the 2019 Dessert Challenge, like first-place winner Ritter’s, returning this year; but several of the new shops in town will be joining us as well.  If you are a coffee lover, come by and try some from Golden Hills Coffee and Just Love Coffee.  If sweets are your weakness, then you will love sampling offerings from Sweet House Bake Shop, Sweet Cups, Viola’s Under the Sweets, and Whistle’s Stop.  Do you prefer something unique?  Then you will want to try Wisemen’s Popcorn’s flavored offering.  There will be something for everyone’s taste buds!

This year’s Dessert & Summer Drinks Challenge will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 7th on the grounds of the Clermont Historic Village, 490 West Avenue.  The event is free and open to one and all but be sure to come prepared to vote for your favorite beverage and for your favorite sweet.

While you are at the Village, you can also tour all the buildings and your children can participate in a scavenger hunt.  The Village will be open during the entire Challenge and for one additional hour.  A donation of $5.00 per person over 12 is requested for the tours.

The Village is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.    If you come one weekend and one of the 6 buildings is closed for a private event, we apologize but now that COVID restrictions have been lifted, a lot of people are taking advantage of our exceptionally low rates to rent our facilities for various events like meetings, graduation parties and weddings.

If you are interested in the history of Clermont or in history in general, why not consider joining the Clermont Historical Society?  Membership is just $25.00 per person or $35.00 for a couple annually.

The Historical Society holds monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month.  The board meeting (open to the public) begins at 6:00 PM and is followed by a presentation at 7:00 PM.

Our next full meeting including a presentation will be held on September 13th in the Depot.  You can also see lots of pictures and information about the Village on our Facebook page and on our new website at www.clermonthistoricvillage.org.   For questions or further information please call 352-242-7734.
