That’s right, this Saturday, August 7, the family-friendly Dessert & Summer Drinks Challenge is being held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Clermont Historic Village, 490 West Avenue, Clermont.

This fun and tasty event is open to children from 1 to 100 who love sampling delicious desserts and cool summer drinks.  Come by and try sweets from places like Ritter’s, Sugar House Bake Shop, & Sunny’s; flavored popcorn from Wiseman’s and refreshing drinks from Golden Hills Coffee Roasters and Just Love Coffee Café and many more vendors.  And the best part, it is all free!  And, when you are done trying all the treats, you get to vote for your favorites.

The Historic Village is located on the shores of beautiful Lake Minneola and is a perfect spot to spend a summer afternoon.  After you finish with the Challenge, you can tour the beautiful buildings in the Village.  Each structure is full of artifacts and tells a story about life in Clermont from the late 1800’s until right after World War II.  A donation of $5.00 per person over 12 is requested for the tours.  You can view the buildings at you own pace or one of the volunteers will provide a guided tour.

If you are interested in the history of Clermont or in history in general, why not consider joining the Clermont Historical Society?  Membership is just $25.00 per person or $35.00 for a couple annually.  The Historical Society holds monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month.  The board meeting (open to the public) begins at 6:00 pm and is followed by a presentation at 7:00 pm.  Our next full meeting including a presentation will be held on September 13th in the Depot.  You can also see lots of pictures and information about the Village on our Facebook page and on our new website at www.clermonthistoricvillage.org.   For questions or further information please call 352-242-7734.
