NFC Raises $5,000+ for Cancer Research

By Pavlos Tentomas, NFC Student Leader

This year’s Night for the Cure event was quite unlike any other the Montverde Academy community had experienced in years past. Even with the tremendous uncertainty surrounding the ongoing pandemic, the entire NFC team was ecstatic with the event’s turnout. We were truly surprised by the number of people who showed up, and we are extremely grateful for the positive support they brought with them.

When our team began planning for the event this year, all options were on the table, and necessarily so. We had originally planned for a virtual event, which, after receiving the green light from the administration, was replaced with an in-person celebration. We did face hurdles, some taller than others. However, I truly believe the team persevered, embodying our message of this year’s event: an enduring vision. In fact, we still managed to achieve success financially, raising $5,000 for our partnered hospitals and research facilities including the Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation, UF Health Shands Cancer Center, and Cornerstone Hospice.

The entire team would like to offer our greatest thanks to all our sponsors, volunteers, and survivors for trusting us to create a successful event this year. Night for the Cure would not be such a wonderful and worthy event without their support. On behalf of the NFC team, we look forward to hosting another great event for MVA next year. We hope to see you there!

Congratulations Pavlos on your awesome achievements.
