The plant of the month of September is the DRACAENA Angustifolia. There are many different species of the Dracaena plant. The Angustifolia is an evergreen, and must be kept in moist soil, but never soggy. Drooping or yellow leaves indicate over-watering or poor drainage. Always let the top of the soil dry out completely between watering, It tolerates dimmer light, but grows slow as a result. Dracaena will tolerate pot-bound conditions for a long period and is rarely bothered by pests or diseases. It does not need sunlight. Dracaena is usually a very popular houseplant.
Clermont Garden Club shares the plant with the library each month to promote horticultural awareness, civic beautification, and community outreach. For more information on becoming a member or for Clubhouse Rental Opportunities, visit;  www.ClermontGardenClub.com
