After a nationwide search, the Clermont City Council selected Brian Bulthuis as its new City Manager, the role vacated by Darren Gray nearly 1-year ago.

Until his recent retirement as Acworth City Manager in July, Brian Bulthuis, age 57, served the city of Acworth, GA (estimated population of 24,000) for 25 years.

In an interview with the Marietta Daily, a Georgia news publication, concerning his retirement, Bulthuis said he was still trying to figure out how to best spend his newfound free time. “It’s kind of the strangest thing not being tied to a calendar’, he said. He reflected that he looked forward to putting his feet up and continuing to watch the city grow.

Guess the free time proved too much for the retiree.

Before moving to Acworth, GA, Brian served as City Manager for the City of Mount Morris, MI from 1990 – 1996. and Administrative Assistant to the City Manager/City Clerk, for the City of Whitehall, Michigan from 1987-1990.

Bulthuis holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University.

Bulthuis will begin his role as Clermont City Manager by December. Let’s give the new Clermont City Manager a BIG Clermont welcome.
