Yes, that’s right! The Tin Lizzies (Model T Fords) will be a part of the Heritage Day Festival again this year. These amazing machines serve as a great reminder of a time when life moved at a much slower pace. A time when cars shared the dirt roads of Clermont with horses and buggies and one of the major responsibilities of the local sheriff was to keep the cows off those dirt roads.
On Saturday, November 20, from 10 am until 4 pm, you will have the opportunity to stroll through Clermont’s Historic Village (490 West Avenue) and get a good taste of what it was like here when the first Tin Lizzies rolled into town. You can try working with hand tools, sample freshly made butter and ice cream, learn how to make a leather bucket and rope, try your hand at some domestic chores, watch your children enjoy jumping rope, and even hear the sound that earned early Florida settlers the nickname “Crackers.” Refreshments will be available to purchase thanks to our sponsors PDQ of Clermont and Chick-fil-A of Clermont.
Clermont’s Historic Village is a unique partnership between the City of Clermont and the Clermont Historical Society. Together they work to provide the citizens of our community and visitors from all over the world with the opportunity to step back in time to simpler eras when life moved at a slower pace—you know when facetime meant talking face to face with your neighbor over the backyard fence. The Heritage Day Festival strives to truly bring that to life for at least one day.
Mark your calendars right away and bring the entire family to the Historic Village on Saturday, November 20,
