What are these ladies talking about?  The same thing everyone is—the fact that this coming Saturday, November 20th from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM you will have the opportunity to stroll through Clermont’s Historic Village (490 West Avenue) and get a good taste of what it was like here when the early pioneers settled on the shores of beautiful Lake Minneola.  You can try working with hand tools, sample freshly made butter and ice cream, learn how to make a leather bucket and rope, try your hand at some domestic chores, and even hear the sound that earned early Florida settlers the nickname “Crackers.”

Your children are going to love making fans and bracelets as well as jumping rope and learning about the games that were played 100 years ago and having the opportunity to read to Toby the dog from Read to Sydney.  For U-tube fans there will be Captain A and Captain SySy in period costumes in the Quonset hut.  They love having their pictures taken with fans.

A lunch combo including chicken sandwiches from PDQ, cookies from Chick-fil-A of Clermont and more will be available for purchase for only $6.00.  Chances to win a gas grill (donated by Lowe’s of Clermont) and gift baskets will also be available at $1.00 each and 6 for $5.00.

Clermont’s Historic Village is a unique partnership between the City of Clermont and the Clermont Historical Society.  Together they work to provide the citizens of our community and visitors from all over the world with the opportunity to step back in time to simpler eras when life moved at a slower pace—a time when people actually made most of what was needed in their daily lives and facetime meant talking to your neighbors across the backyard fence face to face.  The Heritage Day Festival strives to truly bring that to life for at least one day.

So, mark your calendars and bring the entire family to the Historic Village on Saturday, November 20th
