From The Clermont Historical Society

The Clermont Historical Society would like to thank all the hearty souls who participated in Saturday’s Heritage Day Festival.  Mother Nature was not on our side, but that didn’t prevent those who attended from having a great time reading to Toby the dog, looking at beautiful Tin Lizzie’s, sampling freshly churned butter & homemade ice cream, learning how to make rope, making fans & bracelets, and much more.

All the volunteers; especially the Kiwanians, Key Club members, Captain A & Captain SySy, and Give A Day Foundation members, deserve a special “Thank You” as many of them were at the Village from mid-morning until the very end.  Their willingness to take on whatever task assigned was greatly appreciated.  A “Thank You” also goes out to all the Historical Society members and their friends & family who participated!

Special recognition goes out to our event sponsors-PDQ Chicken for delicious chicken sandwiches, Chick-fil-A and Corelli’s for yummy cookies, and Lowe’s of Clermont for an amazing grill.  Chances to win the grill will be available for purchase until December 12th.  Chances are $3.00 each or 4 for $10.00 and can be purchased any weekend at the Historic Village (490 West Avenue) from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and at the Historical Society booth at Light Up Clermont.

The Heritage Day Festival is an excellent opportunity to take a look at the past of our community and to understand what the pioneers in Lake County endured.  We will be back again next fall and, hopefully, the weather will be better. But you don’t have to wait that long to visit the Historic Village.  Come in December and see all the buildings decorated for the holidays!
