Charity Across South Lake (CASL) is distributing toys and food for needy families and children in the South Lake community. Santa and his helpers are working together on this community project with a goal to help at least 2,500 children and their families across Clermont, Minneola, Montverde, Ferndale, Groveland and Mascotte. Many of the Santa Helpers are Kiwanis Club Key Club students.
Kiwanis Key Club is a Kiwanis Youth Program encouraging leadership through serving others. Key Clubs are active in many high schools throughout South Lake County.
Michael Delaney, one of Santa’s volunteers and former Kiwanis Club of Clermont Key Club member said, “Many of our young volunteers who have volunteered in the CASL project are Key Club members. This project gives them the opportunity to view another side of Christmas. A lot of kids have no idea that there are families right here in our community who need help: some are homeless, some are hungry, and some will not receive a gift from Santa without help from the community”. He notes, “it’s important to volunteer. It provides a different perspective on life “. Michael’s children are all Key Club members.
There were over 100 bicycles, each one assembled and ready for pickup.
