On Saturday, February 5 from 9-12 am, the Lake County Water Authority invites local kids 4 and up along with their parents to participate in a free Kids Fishing Clinic at Hickory Point Park 27341 SR19 Tavares FL. Equipment will be provided or you can bring your own. There will be opportunities to learn to rig poles, cast, and then to fish from the pier.
The Teen Sportfishing Association will be running the clinic. They will have both casting and dip netting set up for the kids to participate in making this fun for kids of all interests and skill levels.
During that weekend, the Abu Garcia Florida Big Bass Classic presented by Lake County will also be going on at the park. There will be high-performance bass boats coming and going throughout the day. The exciting hourly weigh-in will also be nearby behind the boat ramp area. The tournament also features an under 12 youth division for up-and-coming anglers. This will present an opportunity to see the grand prize, a $53,000 2022 Nitro Z3 bass boat fully rigged the way the pros use them. The hourly weigh-in is an exciting chance to see some really big fish being weighed before being released live back to the lake.
