This past week, the Clermont Flag Coffee Corner opened its doors in Downtown Clermont to chilly guests seeking hot cocoa, specialty coffee or a piping hot cup of tea. Its owners Gustavo, Laura and Federico Chavez, along with baristas, staff and family had a busy week.

Gustavo and Laura are originally from Argentina. They discovered the Orlando and Clermont areas years ago on their honeymoon vacation. With many repeated visits, their lifelong dream of moving to Clermont to begin a new life and career has just been realized.

Clermont Flag Coffee Corner offers many unique specialty drinks:  richly flavored high-quality coffees, teas and drinks from across Central and South America including Brazil, Columbia, Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica.  The natural and organic coffee beans are freshly roasted locally by Otus Coffee.

Choose a latte, espresso, macchiato, cappuccino, cortado, mocha, or drip coffee;  a hot chocolate. The Coffee Corner’s popular cortado is similar to espresso, yet sweet with small foam on top.  The ‘Flagppuchino’ is their specialty and the exclusively imported mate cocido is like a flavorful specialty tea.

All espresso drinks include double shots. A variety of special flavored sauces, shots and additives can customize, sweeten and enrich the drinks. The cafe also offers fresh bakery items including cakes, brownies, cheesecake slices, desserts and a variety of other sweet treats.

Designed by Laura Chavez with a modern, yet comfortable décor, the cafe’s ambiance is bright and inviting. Extra electric outlets and free WiFi are available for those who want to use cell phones and computers.

The open layout offers comfortable chairs, tables and space for business meetings, socializing and networking.

Gustavo Chavez was a professionally trained barista in Argentina for many years and owned a popular and successful coffee shop. Wife Laura Chavez has a professional background as a high school educator and an interior designer. Their son Federico is in charge of purchasing and operations. They have taken on advanced studies in coffee art, barista brewing and the history of coffee as well as to study to improve their English.

Clermont Flag Coffee Corner is a family-owned and operated business. The name Flag is an acronym that comes from their four names = son Federico, mom Laura, daughter Augustina and father Gustavo. They are hiring and training local coffee aficionados to become talented baristas.

As a grand opening special, they are offering free drip coffee to all First Responders, Police, Fire, Military, Veterans and Clermont City employees with ID proof now through Memorial Day.

Gustavo Chavez shares, “We want to share the very best coffees, teas and baked treats with our Central Florida community, while visiting with us here in the Clermont Art District!  We promise to always share a very clean, safe and healthy environment with top quality customer service. We want to invite everyone to comfortably stop by to visit us with friends, co-workers, business associates and families for a relaxing coffee energy break!”
